Uzbekistan begins production of salt cake

According to UzA, Kungirot Natriy Sulfat started production of high-quality salt cake and high sort of cooking salt with iodine.

The enterprise, which was built in Kungrad district of Karakalpakstan, started production of the first products. The plant will produce 148 tonnes of salt cake and 148 tonnes of cooking salt a day.

Annually Uzbekistan requires 50,000 tonnes of salt cake. One tonne of salt cake is imported for US$500 a day.

The cost of the product, manufactured in Uzbekistan, will be around 250,000-300,000 soums per tonne, which is 4.9 times lower compared to imported analogues.

The report said that Uzbekistan has enough raw materials to production of this good. The project will use minerals from Ustyurt plateau in production process.

Launch of the enterprises will help to develop production of washing detergent powders, glasses, textile, leather processing, metallurgy and sulphate-cellulose industries.
