Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 February 2020, the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions entered into force for the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Convention was signed on 20 October 2005 in Paris and entered into force on 18 March 2007. Uzbekistan ratified the Convention on 14 October 2019. To date, 148 countries have ratified the document.
The main objective of the Convention is the protection and promotion of various forms of cultural expression, the creation of conditions for free communication and the development of various cultures by strengthening international cooperation in this field.
Currently, Uzbekistan is taking appropriate measures for the phased implementation of the main provisions of the Convention. A vivid example of this is the holding of the Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival, the International Poppy Art Forum, and the International Bakhshi Art Festival.
