Finance 11/05/2007 Uzbekistan Autoinsurers Association sums up 2006 results

General meeting of the Uzbekistan Autoinsurers Association (UAA) devoted to the results of the association’s activity in 2006 and review of the revision commission’s report was held on 1 May in Tashkent.

The head of Ark Sugurta Insurance Company Zafar Tursunov presided at the meeting. Opening the meeting, he expressed his deep appreciation of the trust of the members of the association.

The Chairman of the Uzbekistan Autoinsurers Association Council Sherzod Islamov delivered a report on the UAA’s performance in 2006.

As mentioned in the report, last year the UAA adhered to the action plan and carried out certain work. For the purpose of popularizing auto-insurance in Uzbekistan, the UAA published several articles on insurance, and the problems of obligatory insurance of auto-civil liability.

Moreover, in accordance with the action plan for 2006, the UAA organised and conducted a practical workshop for the members of the UAA on "The aspects of developing auto-insurance in the Republic of Uzbekistan". The workshop was organised with the assistance of the "Insurance Business School" Study Centre of the UzbekInvest National Export and Import Insurance Company. Participants of the meeting discussed the development prospects and the problems in the sphere of auto-insurance as well as the procedure for consideration of insurance claims.

After the approval of the 2006 report, the members of the UAA – UzAgroSugurta, Kafolat, UzbekInvest, IShONCh, Standard Insurance Group, Tashkent Sugurta, and Ark Sugurta - were awarded certificates confirming their execution of the obligations to the UAA, and their weighty contributions to the development of the national auto-insurance market.

Also, at general meeting, the winner in the nomination for the Best Insurance Company of 2006 was awarded. The prize went to Ark Sugurta Insurance Company.
