Uzbekistan Approves New Insurance Premium Coefficients for Employers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan has approved a resolution “On Establishing Insurance Premium Coefficients for Mandatory Employer Liability Insurance Based on the Type of Economic Activity.”
The document introduces a number of significant reforms aimed at improving the system of mandatory insurance. Notably, insurance premium coefficients have been reclassified and are now grouped into 20 occupational risk classes, covering 934 types of employer activities in accordance with the National Classifier of Economic Activities (OKED). This classification reflects varying levels of risk across different sectors and enables a more tailored approach to insurance obligations.
To expand coverage and strengthen insurance protection, a minimum insurance premium has been introduced — set at 0.25 times the base calculation value. This measure is designed to make insurance more accessible, especially for small businesses.
Additionally, the procedure for handling insurance claims has been revised. Insurance companies are now required to take into account the results of repeat medical examinations when determining payouts. This change promotes a more equitable and objective claims process.
These amendments aim to enhance the effectiveness and transparency of insurance mechanisms, build a resilient and fair protection system for workers — especially those in high-risk occupations — and ensure a balanced alignment of the interests of employees and employers.
