Uzbekistan and Vladimir region establish mutually beneficial cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 17 January, Governor of Vladimir region of Russia Vladimir Sipyagin held a working meeting with the delegation of Uzbekistan led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic Botirjon Asadov.

The event was attended by Acting First Deputy Head of the region Maxim Brusentsov, heads of departments of the regional administration, Chamber of Commerce, the city of Vladimir, industrial enterprises of the region.

“There are strong business and economic ties between the Vladimir region and our Uzbek partners. Delegations from Uzbekistan regularly visit our region, and Vladimir business missions have been sent to you more than once, so the mutual potential is well studied. It is important that Uzbekistan is interested in the products of our chemical industry, as well as products made of ceramics, glass and ferrous metals. And for Russians, Uzbek cotton is a highly valued brand. The foreign trade turnover between the Republic and our region is increasing year by year, and we are interested in supporting this trend. And I regard your today’s visit as one more step in this direction,” Vladimir Sipagin addressed his Uzbek colleagues.

During the meeting, the parties outlined the interaction vectors between the Vladimir region and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the economic sphere, and also discussed the details of the joint implementation on Vladimir land of a project to create a logistics center for fruit and vegetables and textiles. It is planned to implement it on a production base in the Yuryevets microdistrict of the city of Vladimir. The estimated investment is US$8 million.

“It is very pleasant that we begin the year 2019 with a discussion of mutually beneficial cooperation and increasing business ties. I am sure that our territories have great prospects for effective cooperation, which were identified during the recent mutual visits of the presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan,” Botirjon Asadov said.

According to him, representatives of Uzbek companies are interested in finding partners for implementation of joint projects, new sales markets, and studying best practices.

It is worth noting that a separate cooperation agreement was concluded between Vladimir and the Uzbek city of Bukhara. The parties plan to develop partnerships in several areas: in the field of school exchanges, tourism, and business. The farmers of Bukhara are ready to supply vegetables and fruits to Vladimir, and the industrialists are ready to supply a line of Uzbek industrial goods, including fabrics, as well as innovative developments.

The guests from Uzbekistan offered to open their trading house in Vladimir where residents could buy goods from Bukhara: fruits, vegetables and textiles. In turn, Uzbekistan may open a trading house for Vladimir businessmen.

The visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation to the Vladimir Region will last until 18 January and includes meetings and negotiations, a visit to the site for the creation of a logistics center for fruits and vegetables and textiles in Vladimir, and an excursion program in Suzdal.

Uzbekistan occupies the 17th place in the structure of the foreign trade balance of Vladimir region. For eleven months of 2018, the total volume of trade in Russian region with the Republic increased by 56.9 percent compared to 2017 and amounted to US$30.08 million. Exports of Russian region to Uzbekistan increased by 64 percent, and imports - by 12.4 percent.
