Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 21 October 2024, Ismatulla Irgashev, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, met with Oliver Stolpe, the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan.
During the meeting, discussions focused on enhancing collaboration with relevant authorities in the region to reduce drug consumption and trafficking, combat organized crime, prevent corruption, and avert terrorism.
Stolpe praised Uzbekistan’s efforts to develop a consolidated regional position on Afghanistan, aiming to establish long-term peace and stability in the country and provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue regular communication and exchange views on current and future directions in the fight against drug trafficking and crime.
