Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 9 to 14 September, a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan conducted a working visit to the United States to address food security and strengthen cooperation in this sector.

During the visit, a meeting was held with Nick Harten, Deputy Head of the Europe and Asia Division of the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

The discussions focused on further developing bilateral cooperation in Uzbekistan’s agriculture sector.

Nick Harten emphasized the importance of programs aimed at climate change adaptation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, combating desertification, and addressing droughts to ensure food security and production stability. He commended Uzbekistan’s efforts in these areas and noted that the country holds a significant position in the global community and actively engages with international organizations.

As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached on implementing projects related to food security, developing regulations for the export of fruits, vegetables, and food products, improving agricultural insurance programs for horticultural and farming enterprises, and preparing proposals for projects planned for 2026-2030.
