Uzbekistan and Udmurtia Expand Cooperation in Business, Tourism, and Education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Chairman of the Government of the Udmurt Republic, Roman Yefimov, held a working meeting with a delegation from Uzbekistan led by the Deputy Khokim of Kashkadarya Region, Olimkhon Rustamov.

The visit was aimed at expanding cooperation in business, tourism, and education, according to the press service of the Russian regional government.

During the negotiations, Roman Yefimov noted that Udmurt enterprises export furniture, oil and gas equipment, small hydroelectric power plants, paints and coatings, dairy products, and timber to Uzbekistan. In turn, the republic imports textiles, plastics, and chemical products from Uzbek partners. “I am confident that we have many more points of contact,” emphasized the head of the government.

Udmurtia’s Minister of Economy, Anna Slugina, presented the delegation with a “turnkey solution” for the construction of a mass-market clothing production complex in Izhevsk. She noted that the republic consistently imports textiles from Uzbekistan. In 2024, purchases of hand-made and machine-made clothing exceeded US$290,000, 2.5 times higher than in 2023.

The Deputy Khokim of Kashkadarya Region also held a separate meeting with Udmurt businessmen, including representatives from Svarog, Distribution Group, Agropark Innovatsiya, and the geophysical service company Udmurtneftegeofizika.

The visit includes additional negotiations with enterprises producing industrial goods, dairy, and confectionery products, as well as visits to Sarapul and other regional tourist sites.

The delegation’s visit highlights both sides’ commitment to developing trade, economic, and cultural ties, as well as creating new opportunities for joint investment projects.
