Uzbekistan and Türkiye Boost Trade and Economic Partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Türkiye, Ilkhom Khaydarov, held a meeting with Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), according to the Dunyo News Agency.

Founded on 8 March 1950 in Ankara, TOBB unites all regional chambers of commerce, industry, and commodity exchanges in Türkiye. The organization comprises 367 chambers and exchanges, with over 2 million businesses as members.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects for enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu noted that he had visited Uzbekistan multiple times and participated in numerous business forums and events involving the business communities of both countries. He gratefully recalled his meeting with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in April 2023, during which he presented Türkiye’s national electric car, TOGG.

Special attention was given to collaboration with TOBB University of Economics and Technology (TOBB ETÜ), including the expansion of academic exchange programs. Currently, 30 students from the Tashkent branch of the university are studying in Ankara, and further efforts are underway to attract Turkish faculty members.

The parties also agreed to study the activities of the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Türkiye (TEPAV), which operates under TOBB, with a view to potentially leveraging its analytical and expert resources.

The TOBB President emphasized that since 2024, cooperation has intensified in sectors such as textiles, leather and footwear production, construction materials, glass and furniture manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and jewelry. Negotiations continue regarding the implementation of joint projects in these industries.

As a result of the meeting, the two sides agreed to organize an "Uzbekistan Investor Day" in Istanbul in September–October 2025, as well as to further expand interregional ties.
