Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 October 2024, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for the United States, David DeFalco, to discuss strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The discussions included organizational matters related to upcoming events, such as an informal virtual trade dialogue and reciprocal business missions.
They also explored opportunities for Uzbekistan’s participation in the international Hydrogen Program.
Special emphasis was placed on collaboration in the geology, metallurgy, chemical, and textile sectors. The efforts to restore the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) were highlighted, which would enhance the access of Uzbek products to the U.S. market.
The American side expressed its readiness to provide technical and consulting assistance through the SABIT program to enhance the capacity of Uzbek enterprises in international marketing and export.
The participation of Uzbekistan in the Commercial Law and Development Program (CLDP) was also discussed.
