Uzbekistan and the United States sign agreements on cooperation in critical minerals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 7 April, a delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov, held a series of meetings with representatives of American businesses. The discussions involved companies working in the fields of mining, hospitality, and food industry.

The American side presented specific investment proposals and terms of cooperation, positively assessing the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan. As a result, the two parties signed agreements on collaboration in critical minerals, focusing on investments in geological exploration, extraction, and the construction of fine ore grinding complexes (HPGR).

An agreement was also reached to organize professional development programs for Uzbek specialists. This partnership is expected to contribute to the implementation of innovative technologies in the critical raw materials sector and the creation of added value.

During the negotiations, tourism projects were also discussed, including the construction of new hotels. A project manager was appointed for each initiative, and timelines for implementation were agreed upon.

Cooperation in critical minerals has been actively developing following the C5+1 summit held in September 2023, which discussed energy security with the participation of Central Asian countries and the United States. In September 2024, Uzbekistan and the United States signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of critical minerals, aimed at fostering dialogue in the areas of geological exploration and extraction.
