Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 May, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamol Makhsudov met with the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs, Head of the UN Youth Office Dr. Felipe Paullier, and Bianca Lu Herzog, representative of the UN Headquarters.

The parties discussed pressing issues related to actively involving young people in digital transformation, the development of digital education, the creation of ICT-related jobs, and the establishment of modern platforms and digital services tailored to youth. Special attention was given to promoting youth engagement in public governance processes.

Dr. Felipe Paullier presented the UN’s efforts under the Youth Strategy 2030, aimed at empowering young people around the world and unlocking their potential within the global agenda. He emphasized the significance of digital technologies in Uzbekistan as a powerful tool for engaging with the younger generation.

Bianca Lu Herzog highlighted various UN initiatives focused on coordinating youth policy and involving young people in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. She expressed readiness to deepen the partnership with Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Ministry of Digital Technologies provided an overview of national efforts to enhance digital competencies among youth, support startups and innovation-driven initiatives, and create conditions for their more active participation in governance processes.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed mutual interest in expanding cooperation on digital solutions for youth and in strengthening their role in the development of a digital state.
