Uzbekistan and the IsDB discuss key projects in transport infrastructure and education
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 February 2025, during the Conference of Emerging Market Countries in Saudi Arabia, a meeting was held between the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Muhammad Al-Jasser, and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance, Jamshid Kuchkarov.
The Islamic Development Bank, established in 1975, is an international financial institution headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Its primary goal is to support the economic development of member countries and enhance their welfare based on Islamic financial principles.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the timely implementation of priority projects involving the Islamic Development Bank, the current status of these projects, and the necessary measures for their successful realization.
The discussions focused on the development of transport infrastructure and education in Uzbekistan, including projects in road infrastructure and modern educational initiatives.
Specifically, agreements were signed on the following projects:
Reconstruction of Roads in Uzbekistan: In the Syrdarya region, 37 kilometers of roads will be reconstructed in the Okaltinsky, Mirzobodsky, and Sardobinsky districts.
Improving the Quality and Efficiency of Education in the Republic of Uzbekistan (SmartED): As part of this project, 58 public schools across the country will be built, adhering to inclusive education standards.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to further develop and strengthen mutual cooperation.
