Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed an agreement on the privatization of Asakabank, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirzayev said during the Tashkent Investment Forum.
As part of the forum, an agreement was signed on the privatization of Asakabank, one of the largest banks in Uzbekistan, with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, he said.
Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan plans to sell at least three banks to foreign strategic investors by the end of 2025.
Asakabank is one of the largest banks in Uzbekistan. The bank’s assets as of 1 April amount to more than 55 trillion soums.
The bank’s loan portfolio exceeded 38.38 trillion. soums The bank’s capital is 6.73 trillion soums, and deposits - 12.4 trillion. soums.
