Uzbekistan and Sweden to Elevate Agricultural Cooperation to a New Level

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Sweden, Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov.

The core focus of the discussion was on advancing bilateral cooperation in agriculture to a qualitatively new stage.

During the meeting, both sides noted the significant potential for collaboration, drawing on Sweden’s advanced experience in the agricultural sector. Sweden has established itself as a country with a highly developed agro-technological base, an effective cooperative model, and sustainable farming practices.

It was emphasized that adapting these approaches to the conditions of Uzbekistan would unlock wide-ranging opportunities for modernizing the domestic agricultural sector and enhancing its competitiveness.

Special attention was given to areas such as livestock development, breeding and genetics, seed production, and aquaculture. The Uzbek side expressed particular interest in the introduction of cold-resistant breeds, eco-friendly animal feed, and modern breeding practices.

The Swedish cooperative model was also examined in detail. Its phased introduction could help increase the economic resilience and profitability of farms across Uzbekistan.

The two sides discussed opportunities to expand scientific and educational exchange, as well as the application of digital technologies in agriculture, including the use of drones, automated machinery, and resource-efficient solutions in land cultivation.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to establish a joint working group tasked with developing specific projects and initiatives aimed at further strengthening Uzbek-Swedish cooperation in the agricultural sector.
