Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held in Madrid between the First Deputy Speaker of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Sodik Safayev, and Spanish Senator Antonio Luengo.
The sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbek-Spanish relations, with particular attention given to inter-parliamentary dialogue and the establishment of direct ties between regions.
Sodik Safayev shared information about the large-scale reforms taking place in Uzbekistan and the priorities of its foreign policy. The desire of Uzbekistan to improve the investment climate for European companies was emphasized.
Both sides expressed a common view on the need to deepen cooperation across a wide range of areas, including trade, economy, and investment, environmental protection and addressing water scarcity issues and implementing water-saving technologies in agriculture.
The important role of parliamentary diplomacy in boosting bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and Spain was particularly highlighted.
