Uzbekistan and South Korea Expand Cooperation in Geology and Mineral Resource Management
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of the implementation of the project “Creation of an Integrated Resource Management System for Mineral Resources and Geological Risks in Uzbekistan,” a working meeting was held with the participation of Omonulla Nasritdinhodzhaev, First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Mining and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, advisor to the minister B. Normatov, representatives of the ministry, and the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM).
The parties discussed the current status of the project’s second component — the formation of a geological data base, which will serve as the foundation for effective management of the country’s mineral resources and assessment of geological risks.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on selecting a pilot region for the initial implementation of the system. Data exchange for this region will be the first step of the project, which will then be gradually scaled across Uzbekistan.
Participants emphasized the importance of international cooperation and the adoption of digital solutions for the sustainable development of the geological sector.
