Uzbekistan and Sojitz Corporation Agree to Develop Projects in Healthcare, Energy, and Innovation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 4 July 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Kuchkarov, held a meeting with a delegation from Japan’s Sojitz Corporation, headed by the company’s President and CEO, Kosuke Uemura.
Sojitz Corporation is one of Japan’s largest trading and investment conglomerates (sogo shosha), established in 2004 through the merger of Nissho Iwai Corporation and Nichimen Corporation. Its global operations span over 50 countries and encompass sectors such as energy, mining, automotive, agriculture, and more.
During the meeting, the parties discussed key issues related to strengthening and deepening bilateral cooperation, ongoing economic reforms in Uzbekistan, and the current status and prospects of projects implemented within the framework of public-private partnerships.
Particular emphasis was placed on scaling up existing joint initiatives, developing infrastructure, supporting environmentally sustainable "green" solutions, and promoting digital technologies and innovative startups. The sides explored concrete areas of collaboration, including the construction of modern multidisciplinary hospitals in the regions, modernization of power supply systems, and improvement of water supply infrastructure.
The discussion also covered measures to stimulate Uzbekistan's economic growth and achieve national development priorities through enhanced exchange of expertise and best practices.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in advancing bilateral cooperation, preparing new joint projects, and further deepening engagement across key strategic areas.
