Uzbekistan and Malaysia join efforts to develop tourism

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Productive negotiations took place in Kuala Lumpur between Umid Shadiev, Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee, and representatives of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), including Vice President Sheikh Awad and General Manager Maziah Mihat.

The discussions focused on promoting Uzbekistan in the Malaysian market as a promising destination for pilgrimage, cultural-historical, and winter tourism.

Special attention was given to the "Umrah Plus" program, which offers combined tours including visits to holy sites and Uzbekistan’s cultural attractions. As a result, an agreement was reached on joint marketing projects to enhance Uzbekistan’s recognition in Malaysia.

As part of the cooperation, Uzbekistan plans to host informational and press tours for Malaysian travel agents, allowing them to experience the country’s tourism potential firsthand. Additionally, both countries will collaborate in international tourism exhibitions and events.

The agreements reached during the meeting pave the way for new opportunities in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector and further strengthen bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
