Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Malaysia agreed to explore opportunities for cooperation in the petrochemical sector and clean energy.
The Uzbek side has expressed interest in cooperation with PETRONAS, especially in the framework of the project for the conversion of methanol to olefins (MTO) and related products, as well as in the production of green hydrogen and related products such as green ammonia, the leaders said in a joint statement two countries.
“Both parties welcome PETRONAS’s potential contribution to training in the oil and gas sector of Uzbekistan,” the statement said.
The Uzbek side also noted that Malaysia is one of the largest centers of Islamic finance in the world and expressed its readiness to provide the necessary support to Malaysian commercial banks in actively participating in the financial market of Uzbekistan to develop mutual cooperation in the field of Islamic finance.
“Malaysia has expressed its readiness to cooperate with Uzbekistan in developing the Islamic finance ecosystem in Uzbekistan. The leaders reaffirmed their determination to expand and strengthen the framework of bilateral treaty cooperation by signing new long-term documents in the areas of investment, law enforcement, education, innovation, customs and other areas of mutual interest,” the statement said.
