Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan strengthen cooperation in strategic reforms

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  A meeting took place in Tashkent between representatives of the Agency for Strategic Reforms under the President of Uzbekistan and a high-ranking delegation from Kazakhstan, led by Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan, Jakip Asanov. The meeting focused on deepening cooperation in strategic reforms planned for 2025.

The Kazakh delegation included members of the Senate, the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms, and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Uzbekistan. Representing Uzbekistan were Director of the Agency for Strategic Reforms Bahodir Rakhmatov, First Deputy Director Abdullo Abdukadirov, head of the Delivery Unit at the agency Aziza Umarova, and other agency staff.

During the meeting, Rakhmatov emphasized the importance of the cooperation memorandum signed between Uzbekistan’s Agency for Strategic Reforms and Kazakhstan’s Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms in December 2022. He highlighted that the memorandum includes seven areas of collaboration, covering strategic planning, reform impact assessment, government performance analysis, and approaches to implementing reforms.

Rakhmatov expressed readiness to adopt a "roadmap" for cooperation in 2025, marking a practical step towards implementing the memorandum. He emphasized Uzbekistan’s openness to further strengthening ties in strategic reforms and expressed hope for joint efforts to begin as early as 2025.

The discussion also covered the need to synchronize strategic priorities in key sectors, including government modernization, digitalization, sustainable development, and investment attraction. Both parties stressed the importance of coordinating efforts to achieve common goals and emphasized the significance of integrating innovative technologies into governance processes.

Ways to enhance collaboration in education, science and technology, and joint initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and fostering a business-friendly environment were also explored. The Kazakh side expressed readiness for close collaboration with Uzbekistan, underscoring the importance of this partnership for regional stability and economic prosperity.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to implementing reforms focused on long-term sustainable economic growth, improving citizens’ welfare, and enhancing stability in Central Asia. This meeting marked another step towards building trust and deepening cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
