Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan Launch Pilot Project “Seamless Transit”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Customs Committee of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan have begun joint implementation of the pilot project “Seamless Transit.”
The first meeting of the working group established to coordinate the project was held on 11 July 2025 via videoconference, chaired by K.K. Dzhumagulov, Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Finance.
During the meeting, representatives of the competent authorities of both countries discussed key areas of cooperation in customs transit, with particular focus on simplifying trade procedures and reducing the time required for the clearance of transit goods.
Following the discussions, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in launching the project and agreed to begin its practical implementation in accordance with the established procedures. The pilot project is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2026.
Special attention was given to the digitalization of transit procedures, including the use of electronic accompanying documents and the integration of the customs information systems of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Both parties expressed their readiness to maintain a constructive dialogue and outlined the next steps for the phased implementation of the project. These include the development of the necessary regulatory and technical frameworks, as well as the organization of joint activities for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the pilot initiative.
