Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The staffs of the security councils of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan held extended scheduled consultations.
Assistant to the President - Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kalmukhanbet Kasimov and Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Viktor Makhmudov took part in the consultations.
The parties discussed issues of improving the efficiency of interaction between border services and customs authorities in countering smuggling and violations of customs legislation.
The delegation of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan reviewed the implementation of the Road Map for the reconstruction and modernization of checkpoints, highways and the arrangement of the adjacent territory on the Kazakh-Uzbek state border.
The agenda of the negotiations included measures to further strengthen good neighborliness and mutual trust in Central Asia. Representatives of the two states discussed security and sustainable development of the region in the context of the situation in Afghanistan.
The parties also exchanged the accumulated experience and recommendations in the field of the prevention of religious extremism.
According to the results of the work, specific instructions were given to the relevant state bodies of the two countries.
