Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are discussing the possibility of mutual travel using ID cards. This was reported by Abduaziz Kamilov, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Foreign Affairs, in an article for the newspaper "Narodnoye Slovo."

Kamilov noted that this initiative aims to strengthen the friendly and neighborly relations between the two countries.

He reminded that starting from 1 September 2023, under the procedure in place at the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border, citizens can cross the border using internal ID cards. A similar project is being considered with Kazakhstan, he added.

Currently, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have a visa-free regime; however, border crossings are only possible with international passports.
