Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  As part of the development of cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan and Italy, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Lieutenant General Pulat Bobojonov, held a bilateral meeting with the Italian Minister of the Interior, Mr. Matteo Piantedosi.

The event was organized at the invitation of the Italian Minister as part of the implementation of the "Roadmap" signed following the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Italy in June 2023.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the Agreement between the governments of Uzbekistan and Italy on cooperation in the field of internal affairs, signed in Rome in June 2023.

Both sides emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in the fight against terrorism, the illegal drug trade, transnational crime, and enhancing public safety. The creation of an interagency coordination mechanism in law enforcement, the introduction of digital technologies, and the exchange of expertise were also addressed.

The meeting, held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, resulted in the identification of key areas for further development of bilateral cooperation.

Additionally, the delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan visited the Italian State Police and the National Police Academy, where they familiarized themselves with their activities.
