Uzbekistan and Iran reached a number of agreements on the development of cooperation in the field of transport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 June this year, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov met with Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehrdod Bazrposh.

At the meeting, the parties discussed aspects related to the strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of transport, the development and diversification of transport corridors, and the effective use of existing opportunities in this direction.

In particular, the parties reached an agreement on the development of the trilateral transport multimodal corridor "Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran" and the agreement in the near future on the operation agreement presented by the Uzbek side, the reduction on a parity basis of fees levied by Iran from Uzbek national carriers in the process of transporting goods by road , as well as equalizing tax collections on fuel with taxes from other countries.

In order to further develop trade relations between our countries, and a sharp increase in the volume of cargo transportation, the parties came to an agreement on the creation of an Iranian-Uzbek logistics center, as well as the construction of terminals and warehouses with the participation of Uzbek entrepreneurs in the ports of Chobahor and Bendar Abbas, located in Iran.

Considering Iran’s extensive experience in the field of road construction, it is planned to create a joint venture, as well as to develop cooperation in the field of railway transport, it is planned to hold meetings between the responsible departments.
