Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held a meeting with Shantanu Mukherjee, Advisor to India’s independent non-profit strategy and security research center "NatStrat," Dunyo News Agency reported.
During the conversation, the two sides discussed pressing regional security issues, particularly the ongoing situation in Afghanistan and potential joint steps toward conflict resolution.
The Uzbek side shared information about the measures Uzbekistan is taking to facilitate a peaceful political process in Afghanistan, as well as the implementation of transport and communication projects aimed at the country’s recovery.
The Indian side expressed interest in collaborating with Uzbekistan on resolving the Afghan situation, emphasizing the importance of establishing long-term and sustainable peace.
Shantanu Mukherjee highlighted Uzbekistan’s active involvement in promoting peace in Afghanistan and supporting the restoration of the country’s socio-economic infrastructure.
The meeting reaffirmed the readiness of both Uzbekistan and India to work together in stabilizing Afghanistan and contributing to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The exchange of expertise and coordination of actions on the international stage are seen as key factors in achieving this goal.
