Uzbekistan and Hungary: Joint poultry cluster on the horizon

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Akram Aliyev, and representatives of Hungarian companies Bonafarm and PortfoLion, part of OTP Group, marked an important step towards the creation of a joint poultry cluster in Uzbekistan.

Founded in 2009, Bonafarm is one of Hungary’s leading agribusiness companies, specializing in food production, agriculture, and poultry farming, with an annual turnover of US$1.9 billion and more than 8,400 employees.

PortfoLion, an investment company within OTP Group, operates in five countries and manages assets of 10 portfolio companies worth over US$160 million.

During the meeting, specific measures were outlined for the poultry cluster project, including the training of specialized personnel to work at the facility. A phased action plan was developed to accelerate the implementation of the project, drawing on Hungarian expertise and technology.

Overall, the meeting with the Hungarian companies signals Uzbekistan’s readiness to cooperate with foreign partners to boost its national economy. The joint poultry cluster project will be a significant contribution to the development of Uzbekistan’s agribusiness sector.
