Uzbekistan and Germany hold political consultations
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The regular round of Uzbek-German political consultations was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on 30 October 2012.

The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany was led by Antje Leendertse, special representative of the ministry for Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Caucasus, Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The state and prospects of bilateral relations, including within the “Uzbekistan-EU”, “Central Asia-EU” cooperation framework, the issues of interaction within international organizations, global and regional problems, situation in Afghanistan, and other issues of mutual interest were discussed.

It was noted that regular Uzbek-German contacts on different levels are an evidence of the Endeavour of the parties to consistently develop traditional friendly relations between the two countries practically in all areas of cooperation.

Proximity and concurrence of positions on many problems, including the fight against terrorism, organized crime and narcotics trafficking foster the constructive interaction of Uzbekistan and Germany in international arena.

A special attention was paid to the issues of cooperation in trade-economic and financial-technical areas.

Germany is one of the largest investors to Uzbek economy. At present 116 joint ventures with German capital operate in Uzbekistan.

Joint ventures with leading German companies as MAN, Knauf, Klaas and others, producing highly technological and export-oriented products are successful examples of bilateral cooperation. The parties confirmed that enhancing mutually beneficial economic links meets the interests of both countries.

During the meeting the parties also exchanged views on implementing joint projects in cultural-humanitarian and educational spheres.

Ambassador of Germany Aristide Emil Fenster attended the meeting.
