Uzbekistan and Georgia: New avenues of cooperation in the agricultural sector
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Kakhramon Yuldashev, met with David Kotaria, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Georgia in Uzbekistan, and Irakli Kandelaki, Senior Advisor at the embassy.
The parties discussed further development of mutually beneficial cooperation in the agricultural sector and explored available opportunities for implementing promising joint projects.
During the meeting, a proposal was made to establish a joint working group focused on developing new grape varieties, cultivating and exporting table and technical grape types, advancing livestock farming, implementing an animal identification system, and improving the qualifications of specialists in this field.
Special attention was given to fostering academic exchanges between universities and research institutes, as well as collaborating on sustainable agricultural systems, conserving natural resources, reducing environmental impact, and adapting crops to climate change.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the upcoming session of the Intergovernmental Commission, set to take place as part of the visit of Georgia’s Prime Minister to Uzbekistan, scheduled from 20 to 22 February.
