Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 30 January 2019, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Nematov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus Leonid Marinich.
During the conversation, the results of bilateral relations last year and promising areas for their further development in 2019 were discussed.
As emphasized, the official visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on 12-14 September 2018 to Uzbekistan and his talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev brought cooperation between our countries to a new level, filling it with concrete practical content.
During the visit, 94 bilateral trade contracts worth US$259.2 million and 19 investment documents worth more than US$54 million were signed. Over the past year, trade between our countries amounted to US$419.9 million, showing an increase of 130%.
In this context, the proposals of the parties on the unconditional implementation of agreements reached at the highest level and agreements signed during the visit were considered.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the return visit of the head of our state to Belarus, as well as the schedule and agenda for the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, inter-MFA political consultations, the Joint Forum of Business and Interregional Cooperation, the Tourist Forum.
The interlocutors discussed other relevant issues of mutual interest.
