Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Airports has extended the deadlines for the tender for the "Modernization and Management of Urgench International Airport" project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Previously, on 1 August 2024, the first stage of the tender, known as the Request for Qualification, was announced for the implementation of the project under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.
The company has announced that the deadline for submitting clarification requests and proposals for this stage of the tender has been extended in response to numerous requests from potential participants. Investors can now submit clarification requests until 1 October 2024, and proposals for the Request for Qualification until 1 November 2024.
Urgench Airport serves regular flights for eight airlines and about 40 charter airlines. In 2023, the airport handled 590,000 passengers, and a 17% increase in passenger traffic is expected in 2024. It is projected that under the PPP model, passenger traffic will grow annually by an average of 7.5%.
