Uzbekistan advances to quarterfinals of FIFA U-20 World Cup
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan claimed a 3-1 victory over Greece to advance to quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

Uzbekistan opened the score on 25th minute of the match. Abbosbek Makhstaliev netted an impressive goal after receiving pass from skipper Vladimir Kozak.

After seven minutes Maksimilian Fomin fouled in goalkeeper area and the referee awarded a penalty. Captain Konstantinos Stafylidis scored an equalizer.

On 62 minutes of the match, Greek defenders fouled on striker Igor Sergeev and referee pointed to the spot. Igor Sergeev slotted away the resultant kick, sending the keeper the wrong way with a firm and precise left-foot shot. Referee also showed red card to Dimitrios Kourpelis.

On 83 minutes of the match, a clumsy challenge from Dimitrios Konstantinidis on substitute Zabikhillo Urinboev yielded the game’s third penalty. This time, Sardor Rakhmanov outplayed the goalkeeper to score third goal of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan Boburbek Yuldashov also picking up a second yellow card with four minutes remaining.

Uzbekistan will play against the winner of the match between France and Turkey.

Uzbekistan for the first time advanced to quarterfinals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Uzbekistan twice played in the FIFA U-20 World Cup tournaments, but had to return home after the group matches.
