Culture 30/11/2015 Uzbekistan adopts programme on development of music and art schools

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan approved a state programme on further improvement of activities of children school of music and art for 2016-2020.

In the result of implementation of the state programme on strengthening material-technical base and further improving activities of schools of music and art for 2009-2014, Uzbekistan launched 278 children schools of music and art, as well as equipped with modern educational equipment and musical instruments.

The capacities of music and art schools rose by 1.2 times compared to 2008 and number of teachers – by 1.3 times, number of students – 1.5 times. Young musicians and performers of Uzbekistan won 441 prized medals at international competitions.

In order to continue work on construction and optimal territorial placement of children music and art schools, form single system of general average education, new programme for 2016-2020 was adopted.

According to new programme, Uzbekistan plans to construct, reconstruct and modernize additional 98 children schools of music and art with the capacity of 14,700 places.

The programme underlined that 18 children music and art schools will be built or modernized in 2016. Uzbekistan will build or modernize 20 schools a year in 2017-2020.

The programme will be financed by the Fund for Children’s Sports Development under the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan, off-budgetary fund for reconstruction, capital repair and equipment of schools, professional colleges, academic lyceums and medical institutions under the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan, as well as foreign loans and grants, resources of sponsors and individuals, as well as other sources not prohibited by law.

The government provided customs duties till 1 January 2021 (except for fees for customs clearance) for musical instruments and special equipment, imported for strengthening the material-technical base of children’s music and art schools within the State Programme, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
