Uzbekistan 24/08/2009 Uzbekistan adopts measures to protect pilgrims

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan approved measures on prevention of spread of flu A (H1N1) to the country during hajj period and protection of health of pilgrims and population.

A group of Uzbek Muslims will visit Saudi Arabia for hajj pilgrimage in November 2009. About 600 cases of N1H1 virus was registered in Saudi Arabia so far.

Uzbekistan created special commission and developed a complex of measures on protection of pilgrims and population from the virus.

In line with the approved plan, all pilgrims from Uzbekistan will undergo medical examination before and after hajj. They will be also vaccinated against flue and will be under observance of doctors.

The government plans to establish regular epidemic control at hospitals and tent cities, where pilgrims will live. Pilgrims should have personal protection means like respirators and bulky dressing.

The Government also will create reserve of medicaments for H1N1 virus and disinfection means, as well as allocate places at hospitals.

The Government said pilgrims will participate in various seminars and meetings on prevention of new flu virus.
