Uzbekistan adopts measures for effective use of GIZ resources
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan approved measures on effective use of resources of technical assistance of the German International Cooperation Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, GIZ).

According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Coordination group on cooperation with the GIZ was created in Uzbekistan for increasing efficient attraction and use of technical assistance resources.

Main tasks of the Coordination group are coordination of cooperation with the GIZ within joint technical assistance projects, selection of projects for implementation with use of GIZ technical assistance and agreeing them with the Cabinet of Ministers.

The Coordination group will also hold regular dialogue, exchange information and solve procedural issues, connected with attracting technical assistance of the GIZ, as well as consider reports on development and implementation of projects with GIZ participation.

The Government of Uzbekistan entrusted the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade (MFERIT) to carry out function of working body of the Coordination Group and monitor development and implementation of projects with GIZ participation and hold talks with the German organization on cooperation issues.

The MFERIT will also carry out function of the authorized body of Uzbekistan in relations with management of the Fund of Scientific Researches and Specialists of Technical Cooperation in line with the article 7 of the Government of Uzbekistan and the Government of Germany on creation of the Fund of Scientific Researches and Specialists of Technical Cooperation from 28 April 1993.

The Government of Uzbekistan set that the projects, implemented by the local administrations and state bodies with the GIZ, conducted in agreement with the Coordination group.

The Coordination Group and executive agencies on projects were entrusted timely preparation and implementation of the projects within the technical assistance programme of the Government of Germany for 2011-2012 and following years.

According to the resolution, the state bodies and local administration, which implement projects in cooperation with GIZ, will submit reports on project execution each quarter to the Minister of Finance and the MFERIT.

The Government ordered the Ministry of Finance to carry out rigid control over targeted and effective use of financial resources of the GIZ technical assistance.
