The prequalification to selection of participants of the project on modernization of Farkhad hydro power station and hydro power station No. 14 of Nizhne-Bozsu Cascade was prolong till the end of October and the main tender for selection of general contractor will be announced in November, the source in Uzbekenergo said.
The company already prolonged prequalification, which was announced in April 2013, several times. The organizers did not reveal reasons for prolongation of prequalification.
The project on modernization and increase capacity of Farkhad hydro power station and hydro power station No. 14 of Nizhne-Bozsu Cascade envisages replacement of generators and turbines, as well as electric equipment, relay protection and communication system. The project will increase the generating capacity of the two power plants by 17.3 MW. The project implementation period is three years.
The project cost is US$165.7 million. Along with the IDB resources, Uzbekenergo and the Uzbek side will allocate resources to project realization. In the fourth quarter of 2012, the IDB issued allocation of loan for US$100 million to implement the project. The loan was issued for 16 years with four-year grace period.
Currently, Uzbek energy system has 45 power stations for over 12,400 MW, including 16 power stations of Uzbekenergo – 12.04 MW. Potential of volume of electricity production makes up 56-57 billion KWH.
