Uzbek vice-champion reaches CIS semifinal

Pakhtakor Tashkent, vice-champion of Uzbekistan in 2008, booked its place in semifinal match of the CIS and Baltic Cup on 21 January.
Weakened Pakhtakor, who sent its key players to national team, played 1-1 draw with Lithuanian champions Ekranas.
Defender Klitskov opened the score in the end of the first half, while Lithuanian club scored equalizer in the second half. The match ended in 1-1 draw.
In penalty shootouts, Pakhtakor was luckier. The Uzbek club players missed once, while Lithuanian players failed twice. Alexander Geinrikh hit the woodwork.
