Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, 5 projects are being implemented between Uzbekistan and Russia aimed at ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being. This was noted at a press conference by the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health of Uzbekistan Nurmat Atabekov.

These are projects in the field of international health regulations, the study of natural foci of plague on the territory of Uzbekistan, the study of antibiotic resistance of microorganisms and the fight against HIV-AIDS.

To work effectively in the field of sanitary and epidemiological welfare, it is important to have well-trained specialists in this field. In this regard, cooperation with Russia also plays a significant role.

Thus, during the state visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan, a memorandum on cooperation in ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being was signed.

As Nurmat Atabekov noted, the Memorandum also notes cooperation in personnel training. In his opinion, there is a big advantage in training specialists from Uzbekistan in leading Russian institutions - the absence of a language barrier.

“If there are trained specialists, if they can quickly identify the infectious process, the rate of localization and elimination of the source of infectious pathology will depend on this,” the expert said.

Specialists from the two countries are jointly conducting Uzbek-Russian exercises to identify agents of the infectious process. This makes it possible to increase the efficiency of the sanitary-epidemiological welfare and public health service.

In addition, Uzbekistan has received 6 mobile laboratory complexes from Rospotrebnadzor in recent years.

Nurmat Atabekov noted their role in identifying pathogens in remote regions and settlements of Uzbekistan.

This, in particular, has a positive effect on the implementation of the country’s programs to identify patients with hepatitis C and hepatitis B. This plays an important role for people’s health. For example, hepatitis B disease carries complications such as liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. Therefore, it is so important to test for hepatitis B in order to identify these patients at an early stage and prevent the subsequent development of serious complications.

Nurmat Atabekov emphasized that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia in sanitary and epidemiological well-being is constantly developing and increasing.

The economic potential of Uzbekistan is growing, the country is receiving more and more tourists, which means the volume of work of the sanitary-epidemiological welfare and public health system is increasing.
