Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the activities of the Gijduvon Ipak Tola enterprise.
The cluster system has also been implemented in the domestic silk industry. Thus, 74 silkworm clusters and 11 enterprises for harvesting silk have been created. The area of mulberry plantations has increased from 40 thousand hectares to 55 thousand hectares. As a result, the volume of cocoon production has increased by 2.5 times, and the export of silk products – by 3 times.
A cluster system has also been established at the Gijduvon Ipak Tola enterprise. Capacity has been created for the production of 48 tons of raw silk and 28 tons of silk wool per year. The cluster includes the Gijduvan and Shafirkan districts, where 2 million 300 thousand mulberry seedlings were planted for the forage base last year. 28 thousand people were employed in the two districts.
The enterprise completely processes the harvested cocoons. The harvest was collected twice this year, and 842 tons of cocoons were produced.
This allows for manufacturing products worth 104 billion UZS and more than $4 million in exports.
The Head of state inspected the silkworm farm and the cocoon harvest. He emphasized the need to develop the genetics of cocoons and improve their quality, as well as the introduction of scientific achievements into the activities of clusters. Instructions were given to train silkworm breeders in model clusters and disseminate advanced technologies.
The President completed his visit to Bukhara region and departed for Tashkent.
