Uzbek President to attend SCO summit in Bishkek

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov will take part in a regular session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of the Heads of State on 12-13 September 2013.

The session of the SCO Council of the Heads of State will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, on 13 September 2013.

Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said that the summit will kick off with the one-on-one meeting of the SCO member states. Later, heads of the delegations of Iran, India, Iran, Mongolio, Pakistan, the UN, CIS, CSTO and EurAsEC will join the talks.

Afterwards, the participants will hold negotiations with participation of the delegation in expanded structure.

The summit will examine practical steps to develop trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian ties and promote good-neighbourly relations and friendship between the SCO member countries.

Current regional and international issues will also be discussed in the context of guaranteeing regional stability and security.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a permanent intergovernmental international organisation creation of which was proclaimed on 15 June 2001 in Shanghai (China) by the Republic of Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

India Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status at the SCO. Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka are dialogue partners of the SCO.
