Uzbek President receives Russian Foreign Minister
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Lavrov at the Oqsaroy presidential residence on 5 April 2013.

Sergei Lavrov arrived in Tashkent to participate at the session of the Council of foreign ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Uzbek leader welcomed the guest and said that the Uzbek side highly rates strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Russia, which allow to implement existing potential in relations of two states in various areas.

Sergei Lavrov delivered a friendly welcome of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, which expresses interest of Russian authorities to support and continue dialogue with Uzbekistan to expand wide-scale cooperation, which meet interests of two states and people, UzA reported.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on key issues of the Uzbek-Russian cooperation in politics, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian spheres.

It was stated that both sides are intending to support agreements, reached by leaders of two states in June 2012 in Tashkent in line with the declaration of deepening strategic partnership, which determine priorities of development of two states for perspective.

At the meeting, the sides discussed cooperation between the Commonwealth of Independent states, which Uzbekistan considers as unique platform for open and trustful exchange of opinion on wide-range of issues.

The sides also discussed regional and international issues, which touches interests of Uzbekistan and Russia.
