At the beginning of the talks, Thierry Mariani handed over message of the French President on occasion of the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and France to the President Islam Karimov.

President Islam Karimov expressed his frank gratitude to the message and warm wishes to the leadership of France. It was noted that Uzbekistan considers France as long-term and reliable partner, relations with which is developing in various areas.

France is one important trade-economic, investment partners of Uzbekistan in Europe. Bilateral trade turnover exceeded US$350 million in 2011.

Mariani expressed gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for warm reception and affirmed interest of the French leadership in strengthening bilateral relations.

At the meeting, the sides also exchanged opinion on international and regional issues, UzA reported.
