Uzbekistan has increased the pay of enlisted men. "Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a decree "On increasing the money allowance of enlisted men on October 1, 2007," the Uzbek decree said on 2 October.

The decree is aimed at promoting the prestige of military service, and incentives for improving combat training and morale of enlisted personnel.

Under the decree, the money allowance, paid to enlisted men, is to increase 1.15-fold on 1 October 2007. The money will be allocated by the Finance Ministry from the special Mobilization Reserve Fund.

A term of conscription in the Uzbek Armed Forces has equaled 12 months since 2003.
