Former President of Russia Dmitriy Medvedev became Prime Minister of Russia on 8 May. State Duma supported his candidacy, proposed by President Vladimir Putin, in open voting.
Dmitriy Medvedev received votes of 299 MPs, while 144 voted against him. Factions of Yedinaya Rossiya and LDPR voted for Medvedev, while KPRF and Spravedlivaya Rossiya voted against him.
After the session of the State Duma, Putin signed a decree on appointment of Medvedev as the chairperson of the Government of Russia.
