Uzbek parliament’s lower house consider several laws
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan held its session on 20 October and considered several draft laws.

The lower house of the Uzbek parliament discussed several draft laws in the first reading. In particular, MPs discussed law “On family entrepreneurship”, which was developed to create necessary legal base for development of family business in Uzbekistan.

In line with the draft law, family entrepreneurship will be separate organizational-legal form of business activity, which is carried out family enterprises.

MPs also discussed a draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to law “On guarantees of freedom of entrepreneurship activity”. The document is aimed at developing entrepreneurship in the country and providing additional freedoms for their activities and simplification of processes of their creation.

The draft law envisages introduction of norm on presumption of innocence of the businesses, in line with which any contradictions in legislation will be interpreted in benefit of the business entity. It also envisages to decrease interference of controlling bodies to financial-economic activity of the businesses.

Legislative Chamber discussed draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to “Air Code of Uzbekistan”.

The document introduces changes and amendments to the Air Code to harmonize it with standards and recommended practices of ICAO, as well as international agreements, which Uzbekistan joined. It also implements recommendations of ICAO commission on the result of audit of Uzbekistan in July 2008.

MPs considered draft law “On introduction of changes and amendments to law “On tax consultants”, which is directed at strengthening role of tax consultants in Uzbekistan. The amendments also stipulate to introduce National standards on tax consulting, which will ensure their efficiency.

After the discussions, MPs approved the laws in the first reading and entrusted corresponding committees to prepare the laws for the second reading.
