Technologies 18/01/2014 Uzbek leader orders state structures to adopt measures to develop e-commerce

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on 17 January 2014 ordered the state structures to adopt measures to develop electronic commerce in Uzbekistan.

The session summed up results of social-economic development of Uzbekistan for 2013 and approved main priorities of economic programmes for 2014.

Islam Karimov said that currently Uzbekistan issued over 10 million plastic cards, including about 2.5 million online cards.

He said that today it is possible to pay for telecommunication and communication service via Internet. It is necessary to eliminate barriers and significantly expand the sphere.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said that Central Bank, Ministry of Finance, State Tax Committee and the State Committee for Communication, Information and Telecommunication Technologies in cooperation with other interested structures should submit proposals on expanding electronic commerce to the Cabinet of Ministers within two months and develop new edition of the law “On electronic commerce”, which was adopted in 2004, and now it is outdates.
