Uzbek leader adopts law to set responsibility for infecting people with HIV
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a law “On introduction of changes and amendments to some legislative acts of Uzbekistan” on 24 May 2010.

The Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis passed the law on 3 November 2009, while Senate approved it on 7 May 2010. The law entered into force on 25 May 2010.

The document introduced changes and amendments to the Criminal Code, Administrative Responsibility Code and the Law “On prevention of decreases, caused by the human immunodeficiency virus”.

The law set criminal responsibility for infecting other people with the HIV-virus due to non-implementation or improper implementation of professional duties.

In line with the document, the responsible persons will be punished with arrest for six months or five year jail.
