Uzbek-Korean forum on free and open software takes place in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14-15 August 2017, the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan together with the National IT industry Promotion Agency of South Korea (NIPA) hosted an Uzbek-Korean Forum on Free and Open Source Software.

This forum was held for the second time and is aimed to promote development of national software market by studying experience of using open source software for “e-government”.

The forum presented reports and presentations of experts, faculty, managers of large IT companies in Korea on national experience in software development. In particular, reports were presented on use of open source software in a large data environment, on Korea’s experience with the creation of open source software, on the use of open source programs in the Korean e-government system, which are becoming important areas for the digital environment as a whole. Head of Bridgesoft, INC Kim Nam Guy is presenting a report on importance and application of large data systems in the process of processing citizens’ appeals.

Participants of the Forum noted the reforms implemented in Uzbekistan for development of ICT and e-government, actualization of digitalization issues for raising the country’s economy to a new level of development.

The participants discussed creation of Mirzo Ulugbek Innovation Center, which is created in Uzbekistan to develop software sector.

Representatives of ministries, departments, representatives of business, software developers take part in the Forum from the Uzbek side. Participants actively discuss issues related to the development of the development of open source systems, international experience in this area, as well as industry trends.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Korean side presents ready-made solutions for open source software available for use in automated and intelligent systems.
