Uzbek Govn’t sets state duties for biometric passports
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Government of Uzbekistan set state duties for issuing of biometric passport and documents, replacing them, as well as documents, granting right to travel abroad and arriving from abroad.

Cabinet of Ministers established duty for issuing biometric passport of the citizen of Uzbekistan, as well as biometric passports for travel for citizens under the age of 16, at the size of 50% minimum size of salary (MSS).

Currently, the minimum size of salary in Uzbekistan set at the size of 49,735 soums per month and it will grow to 57,200 soums per month from 1 August 2011.

The government set the size of state duty for issuing non-biometric passports at the size of 30 MSS in line with the corresponding resolution.

Persons without citizenship, permanently living in Uzbekistan, should pay 40% MSS to receive certificate for travelling abroad. They will have to pay 60% MSS to receive biometric certificate.

State duty for registration of sticker, giving permutation to citizens of Uzbekistan to travel abroad, set at the size of 50 MSS, while foreign citizens, permanently living in Uzbekistan and persons without citizenship will pay 80% MSS.

Duty for issuing or extending stay permit was set at the size of 20% MSS. At loss of document, including biometric passport and other replacing document, its holder will have to pay state duty at the size, set for issuing preliminary document.

Uzbekistan is introducing biometric documents in line with the presidential decree from 23 June 2009. Biometric passports are introduced in Uzbekistan in order to ensure security of international civic aviation, improve protection of passports from falsification, improve mechanism on timely and clear identification of person identity, passing border, improving quality and efficiency of international air transportation.

Introduction of passports will be carried out in two stages. In the first stage in 2011, the passports will be issued to servants of ministries and departments, as well as citizens, travelling abroad. At the same time, citizens, who apply to bodies on entry, departure and registration of citizenship to change passport and those who reached definite age. In the second stage (2012-2015), new biometric passports can receive all citizens of Uzbekistan in established order.
